James Lundgren, Sergeant Kris Erickson, Cpl. Steve Kubiak, Pvt. Marc Miller, Pvt. Darin Gardner, Pvt. Ted Mueller, Sgt. Jeff Bender, Pvt. Denny Nichols, Pvt. Don Ferricks, Pvt. Joesph Alshid, Principal Musician Drummer Tim Schulte, Fifer Eric Wallace, Fifer Jim Krause.  surgeons Mate Eric Mathews.  Ranger Detachement: George Lottes, Ron Plummer.  Rifle regiment: Lt. .

This year, the express arrived with mail call for several including Muscian Shulte, Cpl. Kubiak, Lt. Brownson (James Lundgren), Mrs. Brownson (Molly Lundgren), Su Miller, Pvt. Ferricks,Surgeon Mate Mathews, and Lt. Baker.

Privates Denny Nichols and Don Ferricks, both received their own personal copies of the Standing Orders of the First Infantry, due to their support to the First US infantry - Clemson Symmes company.

Musician Eric Wallace on Sunday morning Parade, was awarded the promotion to Corporal for his outstanding performance of duties. After a few other Garrison orders were read, Musician Eric Wallace was then called forward again and demonted to Private for making water on Blockhouse number four on Saturday Evening. He later admitted that his pride on being promoted last about 30 seconds.

Sunday morning patrol was short yet gave the men a view of the fort from below and some of the history of the Fort. Sunday morning inspection went off without a hitch.  Saturday Lilght Infantry drill was placed under the instruction of Rifle Lt. Bob Baker, who performed well. Lt. Brownson (James Lundgren) is the best executive officer one can have. The Doc's display in Blockhouse one was so effective the Sick call attendees shrunk to no one. Something about the penis syringe and bleeder I think.

The Garrison Kitchen under Mrs. Clemson (Sally Bennett) was on time, the menu was authentic & historic, and wow, the food was outstanding this year. Meals included sausage with apples and potatoes for breakfast. Ham and beans dinner on Saturday, and supper Roasted pork with apples, onions, and cider with Brussels Sprouts, green beans and parsnips.   Bubble and Squeak (beef and cabbage)  on Sunday.  Su Miller prepared on Saturday a Long Island Cheese pumpkin custard for desert which was fantastic. Molly Lundgren, Su Miller and Patty Plummer were all excellent help in the kitchen over the weekend.

First class Black smith Mike Shultz attended for the first time, and made several useful things to be used in the kitchen. Marc Miller brought his Saw Pit rig to the fort this year, it was set up inside the fort between Blockhouse two and three. Site Administrator Steve Wilson was able to obtain a couple of beautiful walnut logs to be sawed into planks.  Though it was scarce to find volunteers, Marc did super work demonstrating and engaging the public with the sawing.

Overall, it was a very heavy Public participation this year. The troop parades were always very full with the public. Great support from the County and all of the participants went to insure the success of the TWENTY FIFTH Fall Muster at Fort Osage.

  •   200th Battle of Tippecanoe, November 5-6, 2011 The 1st Infantry - Clemson / Symmes company, will be joining our sister unit to portray Lt. Albright's Detachment comprised of the 1st Infantry and Posey's company 7th US.   Col. Abolt is overall American Commander, Maj. Bennett the Regular Infantry Battalion commander, Captain. Lundgren the  Company commander, 1st and 7th.    Uniform:  1810, black leather accoutrements, Bucket (shako) cap. SEE "HISTORY" TAB ON THIS SITE FOR MORE INFORMATION ABOUT THE 1ST USI AT THE BATTLE OF TIPPECANOE.
After action report:   Attending were:  Major Dave Bennett, 2nd Sgt Paul Rosewitz, Pvt.Clerk Bill Jordan, Pvt. Steve Kubiak, Pvt. Marc Miller, Pvt. Darrin Gardner, and Rangers Jeff Patrick, Greg Wait, and Sally Bennett, Su Miller, Katherine Rosewitz, Emily Rosewitz.
WOW. The first of the 200th Anniversaries. 100% Living history, no battle reenactment and 24 hour guard duty. Amidst an underlying policital correctness and sensitivity to not wound the feelings for modern day American Indians, a first class 200th commemoration was held at Battleground Indiana.  The 1st Infantry Clemson - Symmes company formed with the 7th a company portrayal of Posey's company commanded by Lt. Albright of the 1st Infantry in 1811. We camped exactly where Posey's company historically camped during the battle. All of the enlisted men of the company were uniformed in the 1810 coat and trousers. It was quite an undertaking for this many men to obtain the materials and make authentic uniforms based on the latests research.  The officers were wearing either 1806 coats, 1810 surtouts, or overcoats. Cross belts and Chapu de brau were the order of the day along with "half boots" for the officers.

The Wool bunting Garrison flag of the 1st Infantry, first commemorated during the 200th anniversary of the Building of Fort Osage, was raised during the commemoration of the 200th of the Battle of Tippecanoe. This is the first of the War of 1812 Commemorations and our Garrison flag had the honor to start them all!!!

Paul Rosewitz received from Major Bennett at the 200th of Tippecanoe, his Warrant to Second Sergeant of the 1st Infantry.  Everyone insure to give your congrats to our newest Sergeant. Special thanks to Marc Miller for supplying split wood for the kitchen during the event, and for sharpening Mrs. Bennetts camp axe and kitchen knife. Clerk Bill Jordan filled out forms tilled he got sick of the paperwork!  Darrin Gardner and Steve Kubiak was my moveable defenseworks. Jeff Patrick and Greg Wait from the Springfield area made the trip as Rangers and were in the Militia detachment attached to Posey's company portraying men from Norris Company of Indiana Militia.

Sally Bennett was placed in charge of the of the Civilian camp located at the battlefield site. The phrase "herding cats" comes to mind. Civilians do not know what a straight line is!!  She organized the set up of the camp and that everyone in the Civilian camp during the day wouild present to the public crafts and skills of the early American republic. Emily Rosewitz portrayed a washerwoman, while Su Miller used her Gossip Spining wheel and Sally Bennett sewed on a bonnet and reticule.

This was a once in life time event, and everyone who attended was greatful for the opportunity to participate and remember those who have no voice today
and in turn becoming part of history. Thanks to everyone of the 1st Infantry who attended the 200th of Tippecanoe!
